I feel so blessed to have such uplifting
relationships. For a few years I
isolated myself. I had acquaintances,
but really never let anyone in. My only real friend lived 6 hours away. Due to distance and busy lives, I even shut
her out of my struggles and depression.
I don’t know why, but I did.
Today I feel so thankful for restored
relationships and new friendships. For
a long time I took friends for granted and failed to invest the time and energy
into developing true friendships. I thought
I was ok with having acquaintances, but when times got difficult I really had
no one nearby that I could turn to. I never realized how vulnerable I was, trying
to do life alone.
I now realize that I not only need
friends for the fun times, I need friends that are going to give me sound
advice, people that I can be transparent with, and friends that will hold my
hand during the difficult seasons of
life. “A friend loves at all
times” (Proverbs 17:17).
Blessed with the Best of Friends

How and why do friendships start, and why do
they keep going?
What keeps the conversation good, the tears
and laughter flowing?
Who can say? Each one’s unique! Some people
simply click.
And suddenly they find themselves true friends
through thin and thick!
By definition, friends are those who love us “just
because”
They celebrate our talents, and they overlook
our flaws.
A friend’s the greatest gift in life, and I’m
blessed without a doubt,
Because I’ve got the greatest friend who knows
me inside out.
Today I celebrate one of my closest friends
on her special. I’m inspired by her faith
in God and uplifted by her prayers. She
encourages me to be a better person. She
knows me so well, that sometimes it’s as if she can read my mind as she knows
just the right words to say. I know that I can trust her with my deepest
secrets and can count on her as my main accountability partner.
How does our accountability work? We invest in each other’s lives and share our
day to day joys and trials. We challenge
each other in spending time with God, devotions, & journaling. We encourage each other in our thought life and
help each other focus on the things of God vs. the things of the world. We openly
share our shortcomings and pray for each other.
We are intentional about serving
God together and allowing God’s love to overflow into the people around us.
So yes this friendship is a very
special gift that God has blessed us with.
It contains the essential parts
of an accountability relationship all packaged together in a beautiful
friendship. We find joy in each other’s
good news, compassion during difficult times, and loyalty no matter what life
brings our ways. We also have fun. We can talk for hours on end about everything
& nothing at all. We laugh and find
humor in our daily lives, we go shopping and try to find the perfect bargain, and
we have even shared the adventures of riding roller coasters together. And
this amazing gift is woven together by His love!

defend themselves.
A cord of three strands is not quickly broken." (Ecclesiastes 4:12)
