This evening when I left for
Celebrate Recovery, I jokingly told my husband I’d be home by midnight. Little did I
know how close to truth this would become.
Though the program ended at 9:30,
I stood around and chatted with several friends. I so enjoyed this time. I’m amazed at the relationships that are
forming. I’m becoming friends with women
from all walks of life. Never before
have I known this kind of joy in friendships, and I’m grateful that it’s overflowing
into some of the relationships that I had long before CR.
For those of you
not in Celebrate Recovery, you may be wondering what that is.It’s a place to celebrate God's healing
power in our lives through the 12 Steps of recovery and the "8
Recovery Principles" from the Beatitudes.
God calls us to bear each one another's burdens, and Celebrate Recover sets the stage for this to become a
reality.
In CR we face our hurts,
habits, and hang-ups together, and we work towards healing. As we begin to trust in God with everything,
even our struggles. He comforts us and wraps His arms around us, through the
words and hugs of other people. At CR We do life together. We don’t put on our church masks. We are
transparent and face issues as they arise.
We realize that God is bigger than all the problems and sins we encounter.
I really love my Celebrate
Recovery Family. Without them, I don’t
know how I would have made it this far. They
have been there during the struggles and are challenging me to continue maturing
in my relationship with my Savior. We
have cried together, laughed together, and are learning to dance in the storms
that come our way. I have encountered
more grace, love, encouragement, & support here than I have at any other
time and place in my life. I’m so
blessed to be part of this inspirational program, and I’m honored to call CR my
home away from home.
