In this song Laura asks the question, “what if the trials of this life, the rain, the storms, the hardest nights, are Your blessings in disguise?” I believe God allows us to experience trials (he doesn’t cause them) so that we come to know Him better. He loves us so much so that He allows us to make choices and lets us attempt to rely on our own strength, but He is always there to provide a way out. In the process we realize that we must rely on Him. Though I walk in the midst of trouble, you preserve my life (Psalm 138:7).
I am going through the biggest storm in my life but can honestly say that I happier & more content than I have ever been. I feel closer to God and feel like I’m making a difference. I am developing true friendships and learning to be transparent with others. The joy and blessings that I’m experiencing from this storm are overwhelming. I have learned so many things about God through the this trial, and I’m so amazed that God will do whatever it takes to keep us from wandering too far down the wrong path. I’m so thankful that he loves “us way too much to give us lesser things.” The trials are only temporary, but his mercies endure forever.
BLESSINGS (LAURA STORY)
We pray
for blessings, We pray for peace,
comfort
for family, protection while we sleep,
We pray
for healing, for prosperity,
We pray
for Your mighty hand to ease our suffering.
All the
while, You hear each spoken need,
Yet love
us way too much to give us lesser things.
‘Cause
what if your blessings come through raindrops
What if
Your healing comes through tears
What if
a thousand sleepless nights are what it
takes to know You’re near
What if
trials of this life are Your mercies in disguise
We pray
for wisdom, Your voice to hear,
And we
cry in anger when we cannot feel You near,
We doubt
Your goodness, we doubt Your love,
As if
every promise from Your Word is not enough.
All the
while, You hear each desperate plea,
But long
that we’d have the faith to believe.
‘Cause
what if your blessings come through raindrops
What if
Your healing comes through tears
What if
a thousand sleepless nights are what it
takes to know You’re near
And what
if trials of this life are Your mercies in disguise
When
friends betray us,
When
darkness seems to win,
We know
the pain reminds this heart
That
this is not, this is not our home.
‘Cause
what if your blessings come through raindrops
What if
Your healing comes through tears
And what
if a thousand sleepless nights what it
takes to know You’re near
What if
my greatest disappointments
Or the
aching of this life,
Is the
revealing of a greater thirst this world can’t satisfy.
And what
if trials of this life,
The
rain, the storms, the hardest nights,
Are your
mercies in disguise.
Thank you Hope for sharing your life with all of us! I love the song you chose for this entry. I have had a thousand sleepless nights. God has taken away the shame associated with my addiction but I have continued to feel sorrow over all that happened. Things I have done and things I have left undone. I no longer feel that sorrow. Today I feel thankful for the things I have experienced. I would not be this close to God without going through what I did. It wasn't pleasant and I definitely don't want to go there again, but all of the pain has brought joy and serenity to my life. His Mercies in disguise.
